After California, Stanley visited my friend Jeana in Arkansas, a state in the south of America. This is what she said:
Hi Everyone!
My name is Jeana Moore, and I live in a very rural part of Arkansas. Rural means it's far away from big cities and out in the countryside. Flat Stanley and I had lots of fun. We had 2 days of adventure, so he could see a couple places I enjoy most in our area. People don't really live near each other here, so you have to travel around 30 to 45 minutes to get to a town! However, it doesn't seem so long at all for us because we are used to it.
Two of my favorite things to eat in Arkansas is steak and catfish! Beef cattle and catfish are two of our big agricultural products that many people buy from our state. (Chicken and rice are probably the biggest, however.) Stanley had some catfish and fries and really liked them.
The first adventure Stanley and I had was at the White River in Calico Rock. In the past, when people started moving West (maybe for the Gold Rush), Arkansas had many trading stations because our rivers were a great way for people to travel to other trading stores. You can still see the railway where trains still sometimes run. There are lots of local craft people now who sell stuff to visitors. The White River is a major place for people to fish and canoe and just enjoy nature.
Next Flat Stanley and I went to the Mammoth Spring State Park! It is amazing! The water comes from one of the biggest springs in the entire world! It is always cold, even when temperatures are much higher than 100 degrees in the summer. The Mammoth Spring State Park is also where they make electricity! In some of the pictures, you can see Stanley outside of the old electric station. That room is now a museum because they created a new power plant. The Mammoth Spring Park also has a fish hatchery, paddle boats, and lots of other things you can explore during the summer.
Also, since we live in a rural area, we can have unusual pets, like ducks!
The last thing Flat Stanley and I did was go to work. I work for a radio station, so he got to be on the radio during the news!
It was great to meet your friend Stanley! Now he will have many other wonderful adventures in Korea.
